What is Neuromuscular Dentistry?

Did you know that the way you upper and lower teeth come together is part of a system of teeth, muscles and joints?

This also means that if you have a misaligned bite your muscles and joints work hard to get them together. This often leads to your muscles being overworked, leading to various painful conditions.

This is where Neuromuscular Dentistry comes in. Neurosmuscular Dentistry considers the entire system that controls the positioning and function of your jaw. You want your dentist to be able to establish a jaw position based on a harmonious relationship of the three main factors affecting occlusion - the teeth, muscles, and jaw points.

NMB will help relax your muscles and will also prevent your jaw from being misaligned again. If you suffer from head/neck pain you might be a good candidate for Neuromuscular Dentistry.

Now there are a lot of treatments to help improve your smile, correct your misaligned bite, or to releive the pain. Speak to your dentist to see what options are available to you.

Happy 2010 from All Bright Dental!

Dear Readers,

Ah! January 1st, a day to say, "Out with the old and in with the new!". I think we all make resolutions for the New Year but don't always set small attainable goals along the way to encourage and motivate ourselves to stick to them. We can easily defeat ourselves by looking long term instead of short term. The same could be said about dealing with pain!

We should all think of one positive resolution to dealing or coping with our pain and list your first small goal to reaching it! Whether its promising yourself to come in for your routine cleanings this year or maybe just to take care of that one tooth that has been bothering you for quite sometime now. Let's be creative and help each other get there!!!

I want you all to respond to me one small goal you want to acheive in year 2010 whether its related to dentistry or not. I will post these resolutions to our blog to help motivate each other in making 2010 a year to remember. What better way to start with giving each other positive energy?

1st Goal: My goal is to wake up every morning and before doing anything else, I am going to smile because that will make the decision that I will have a good day today!

Sincerely,

All Bright Dental
